Working toward the motto: “Mikey, you’re pimping”

As a kid coming from a decent suburban town, I was pretty much like most of my friends when it came to future aspirations.  Moms would ask “what do you want to become when you grow up” and generally I responded by listing one of the twenty jobs that I knew existed.  And pretty much this mentality stuck for a while.  I got a baseball scholarship to play at Duke University and was on course to complete the pre-med track.  Cool, right?  Well, as I came to find out….not really.

First and foremost, I never liked medicine.  Why the heck even study it when I cringe at the sight of blood gushing wounds?  Simply put, I was told to do so by elders and was convinced that they knew something I didn’t.  But I never had a passion for it.  The few times that I shadowed emergency room doctors and heard patients screaming “ouuuch, son of a #@$&^” or “just kill me” just didn’t rock my boat, and I quickly found out that this place wasn’t for me.

Over time, you learn that doing things without a passion is deadly; it sucks the soul out of you. Unfortunately some people get stuck in this state of mind and  feel that there’s no way out.  Well, maybe pinpointing your passion is an impossible thing to do….maybe it’s a life pursuit.  But for now, at least I recognized that there are certain things that I enjoy and make me feel lively.  Some of those include bringing energy into a room, dancing (haha…i wish) creating successful business opportunities and getting involved in activities where I can learn to do something that “looks sooooo cool!”. (my inner self wanting to be a good dancer)

I’m a globe-trotting questioner seeking answers.  Currently I’m working/enjoying/living as business support representative with a company who wants to brings semantic search technology from Europe to the States.  I enjoy raising eyebrows, laughter and working toward the title “pimp”, minus all the hoes…..because despite their occasional good looks, they just don’t do it for me.
